To worship You as I ought

The first in our new series, Christians Behaving Badly: How we get religion wrong, and what we need to do about it.

What constitutes “true worship”?

When is it OK to break religious and ceremonial law?

  • Eli’s sons, Hophni and Phinehas (1 Sam 2, 3:11-14, 4:11) But this is NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT!
  • Samuel’s sons weren’t any better than Eli’s! (1 Samuel 8) Israel asks for a king
  • Aaron’s sons, Nadab & Abihu (Lev 10:1)

But you can see the problem, when you compare that with Jesus’ words:

“The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.” (Luke 6:5)

There are no inherently spiritual actions … so, how do you do it?
