Do you know what to do in a fire? Should you open the door to escape? How do you know?

There are many kinds of doors. Doors let some things through, and some keep some things out.

“Some people use walking through doorways as a mindfulness cue. Whenever they walk through a doorway into a different room they notice and pay attention to what is happening with themselves and in the new room.” (https://www.insightmeditationcenter.org/books-articles/mindfulness-meditation-homework/6/)

I suggest two exercises you might like to try at home:

  1. Move slowly and quietly between the rooms of your house and see whether you can HEAR the different ambient sound of each room.
  2. Take time to examine your thoughts as they come into your mind. Ask yourself, Is this the kind of thought I want MORE of? Or LESS? Is this thought useful, or harmful?
