Wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked

Letter to the Church at Laodicea – Revelation chapter 3, verses 14-22

“Laodicea” comes from two words:

  • laos (the people, laity) and
  • diké (properly, right, especially a judicial verdict which declares someone approved or disapproved; a judgement (just finding) that regards someone (something) as “guilty” or “innocent.”)

Where we’ve been (see our playlist on YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMo1nH11Md33QyjE4d6ZdD3ggo-bYL5ZL)

The Churches each represent a successive revelation of our own inner states. Each step follows on from the previous one and leads inevitably to the next.

  • SO, WHAT COMES NEXT? What does that clarity of vision (which we find in Philadelphia) show us?
Our own true nature, and it’s NOT A PRETTY PICTURE!
How is this DAY SEVEN, the SABBATH?!

“… good from the Lord is heaven for angels, and not anything of their own.” (Heaven and Hell, paragraph 12)

This is DEATH TO SELF

“For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it” (Mark 8:35)

“before love of self and the world are quiescent, celestial and spiritual things cannot inflow” (Arcana Caelestia, paragraph 2967, section 2)

“A person should think, will, and act as if doing so all by himself, yet should attribute to the Lord all his thought of what is true and endeavour towards what is good. When this happens the Lord implants within the person the ability to receive Him and influx from Him.” (Arcana Caelestia, paragraph 10299, section 4)

How do you need to get out of the way of the Lord’s work this week?

Recorded on Sunday 26 November 2023.
